Tamika Catchings Biography

Tamika Catchings was a WNBA superstar, spending her entire 15-year career with the Indiana Fever. She was a ten-time WNBA All-Star who was voted one of the top 15 WNBA players of all-time in 2011. Catchings began her playing career in 1997 when she starred for the University of Tennessee Volunteers under legendary head coach Pat Summitt. At Tennessee, Catchings would win back to back national championships in 1997 and 1998, along with multiple individual honors. Catchings success would correlate to the WNBA, when she was chosen third overall by the Indiana Fever in 2001. Unfortunately, Catchings would have to sit out her rookie season due to an ACL injury, but she rose to national fame in 2002 by being named the rookie of the year along with a spot on the WNBA All-Star team. Catchings went on to earn five WNBA Defensive Player of the Year awards and the 2011 WNBA MVP. The pinnacle of her WNBA career came in 2012, when Catchings helped lead the Fever to a championship, winning the Finals MVP. She is the league's all-time leader in points, rebounds and steals during the playoffs. Outside of the WNBA, Catchings helped Team USA win four gold medals.
