Sydney Leroux Biography

Sydney Leroux is a professional soccer player, currently playing forward for Angel City FC and, formerly, for the U.S. women’s national team. Canadian-born, Leroux represented Canada at a variety of youth levels. With her parents’ mixed descent, she was eligible to represent either the United States or Canada throughout her early career. She made her senior international debut with the USWNT in 2012. At the Summer Olympics that year in London, Leroux became the youngest player and a goal-scoring member of the Olympic gold medal-winning team. In 2015, she also starred for the World Cup-winning U.S. squad. Overall, Leroux has had 77 caps with the national team and scored 35 goals. 

On the club side, Leroux made her semi-professional debut with the Vancouver Whitecaps as the youngest player on the team to ever do so, at 15 years old. After playing for the women’s UCLA soccer team in college, she was the number one pick of the Atlanta Beat in the 2012 Women’s Professional Soccer League Draft.
