Sonny Gray Biography

Sonny Gray is a frontline starting pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds.  Gray had a banner 2015 season and made his first All-Star appearance.  He finished the year 14-7 with a 2.73 ERA and was third in voting for the American League Cy Young Award.  Gray started on Opening Day for the A's in 2014 and 2015.  In 2014, he was twice named AL Pitcher of the Month.  That season, Gray pitched a complete game on the final day of the regular season to clinch a wild card berth into the playoffs for Oakland.  He originally debuted for the club midway through the 2013 season.  Gray was masterful down the stretch in his rookie campaign, helping the A's seize the AL West.  He was selected 18th overall by Oakland in the 2011 MLB Draft out of Vanderbilt University.  As a junior with the Commodores, Gray went 12-4 and helped the school reach their first College World Series.
