The Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders are the professional cheerleading squad for the Miami Dolphins of the NFL. They perform routines at every home game during pregame, halftime and timeouts. Every year, the cheerleaders release an annual swimsuit calendar and they are very involved with the community. The Miami Dolphins and the Cheerleaders both experienced their inaugural season in 1966. The cheerleading squad was originally called the Dolphin Dolls and it consisted of 125 members from age 8 to 18. Of the total girls, 48 were chosen weekly to preform on the sidelines while the remainder sat in the endzone or bleachers. In the 1970s, changes were made to the cheerleaders. The first change was changing the name to the Dolphin Starbrites. The Starbrites consisted of 30 ladies who put on Broadwaystyle half-time shows. In 1983, the Starbrites changed their named again to the Miami Dolphin Cheerleaders. Today, the Cheerleaders glamorized their look with shiny white boots and rhinestoned uniforms. The cheerleaders have gone international and they have been voted sexiest cheerleaders in the NFL.
