Brian Dawkins Biography

Brian Dawkins is a former NFL safety who played 16 seasons in the league with the Philadelphia Eagles and the Denver Broncos. Prior to his time in the NFL, Dawkins was a star safety at Clemson University, finishing his career with 247 tackles and 11 interceptions. A three year starter, Dawkins received multiple All American honors as well as All-ACC honors during his time at Clemson. Following his graduation, Dawkins entered the 1996 NFL Draft, and he was drafted in the second round by the Philadelphia Eagles. Dawkins would immediately make an impact, becoming a key player in the Eagles’ secondary for years to come. In 12 seasons as an Eagle, Dawkins would go to seven Pro Bowls and be named an All-Pro five times. His 183 games as an Eagle is a team record, and he left the team in 2008 to sign with the Denver Broncos. Dawkins continues his dominance in Denver, making two more Pro Bowls and becoming the shutdown safety the Broncos had been looking for. In 2012, Dawkins decided to retire, ending his Hall of Fame career early in order to remain healthy and to leave on top.
