Washington Capitals Veteran Jay Beagle Holds Autograph Signing in Maryland

Washington Capitals veteran Jay Beagle certainly has one of the more ironic names in sports. Some fans played into that name at an autograph signing he held this past Saturday at Sport Chevrolet in Silver Spring, Maryland.

There were five fans who brought dogs to the event and even two beagle owners were in attendance. In addition to signing autographs, Beagle also took photos with the dogs.

He previously did a signing at the dealership back in March and has recorded radio commercials for Sport Chevrolet. Fellow Capitals players John Carlson and Karl Alzner have also made appearances at the dealership.

Beagle is on pace for a career year, with six goals and 13 assists in 56 games. Last season, he played in a career-high 81 games and scored 30 points.

Beagle made it to the NHL despite being undrafted out of the University of Alaska Anchorage. He spent several seasons with the Hershey Bears before making his debut with the Capitals in 2009.

Beagle is a native of Calgary who played his junior hockey in the Alberta Junior Hockey League. He spent two seasons with the Calgary Royals before going off to college.
