As one of the legends of tennis, Jim Courier will be well-received at his next speaking engagement. He will be featured this October at the Current/Sherman Group of Merrill Lynch Champions for Children Gala. 

The event takes place on October 19th at the Florida Blue Convention Center in Deerwood. Proceeds raised benefit the MaliVai Washington Youth Foundation. 

In addition to Courier's comments, there will be a cocktail reception, live and silent auctions, dinner and scholarship award presentations. Each year, the gala raises around $250,000. 

Courier won four Grand Slam singles titles in a career that spanned from 1988-2000. He is one of just 16 men to reach the finals of all four Grand Slam singles tournaments. 

Courier won 23 singles titles overall and is a former world number one. He was a part of two winning U.S. Davis Cup teams as a player and captained Team USA in Davis Cup competition in 2011. 

In 2005, Courier was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame. He currently commentates on tennis for multiple networks and stays active in competition on the PowerShares Series circuit.
