South Dakota All-Star Awards Ceremony Welcomes North Carolina National Championship Coach Roy Williams

A big-time sports celebrity helped bring out the crowd to this year's South Dakota All-Star Awards Ceremony. North Carolina basketball coach Roy Williams was the featured speaker at the event on April 7.

Williams was able to share lessons from his iconic coaching career at the Sanford Pentagon. He particularly geared his presentation towards positively impacting the student-athletes in attendance.

In addition to Williams' speech, there were also several awards handed out to high school athletes. The South Dakota All-Star Game took place at the same venue the following day.

Williams is a North Carolina native who played for the Tar Heels and began his coaching career there as one of Dean Smith's assistants in 1978. He went on to guide the University of Kansas to 14 straight NCAA Tournament appearances.

Williams also made two trips to the national championship and won nine conference titles with the Jayhawks. He returned to his alma mater in 2003 and has since won three national championships and eight regular-season ACC titles.

Williams ranks seventh in Division 1 college basketball history with 842 victories. He is a member of the College Basketball Hall of Fame and the Basketball Hall of Fame.
