Sketchers Signs Accomplished Jockey Victor Espinoza to Endorsement Deal

The Kentucky Derby week brings the horse racing industry its greatest level of visibility each year. That is something accomplished jockey Victor Espinoza has benefited from regularly.

In advance of Saturday's Derby, Espinoza signed an endorsement deal with Sketchers. The branding for the footwear company could be seen on his riding apparel as he raced Gormley to a ninth place finish at Churchill Downs.

Sketchers served as a sponsor for California Chrome in 2014 when Espinoza rode the horse at the Belmont Stakes. They also recently signed retired baseball slugger David Ortiz to a deal.

Espinoza is best known for racing American Pharoah to the Triple Crown in 2015. At the age of 43, he was the oldest jockey to accomplish the feat and also the first Latino winner.

Espinoza is one of only ten jockeys to win the Kentucky Derby three times. He also has won the Preakness Stakes on three occasions, making him the only jockey to have three tries at winning the Triple Crown.

Espinoza has finished in the top ten of the annual National Earnings List for Jockeys seven times. He is a three-time winner of the ESPY Award for Best Jockey.
