Retired Basketball Star Jason Richardson Makes Appearances in India Promoting the NBA

The NBA is always making efforts to expand their global reach.  That was no more apparent than last week when retired basketball star Jason Richardson made a trip to India to promote the game.

Richardson went on a three-day promotional tour to New Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Mumbai.  He ran basketball clinics, visited fans, and made media appearances.

It was a great way for rabid basketball enthusiasts in one of the world’s largest countries to celebrate the first week of the regular season.  In this past June’s NBA Draft, Satnam Singh Bhamara became the first Indian-born player ever selected.

Richardson was a fan favorite during his 14-year NBA career.  He won back-to-back Slam Dunk Contests in 2002 and 2003, cementing his legacy as one of the greatest dunkers ever.

However, Richardson was more than just flash.  He accumulated over 15,000 points and averaged over 20 points per game in three different seasons.

Richardson is best known for the first six years of his career that he spent with the Golden State Warriors.  He also suited up for the Charlotte Bobcats, Phoenix Suns, Orlando Magic, and Philadelphia 76ers.
