Record-Journal Names Legendary UConn Basketball Coach Jim Calhoun Speaker for Best of the Bunch Brunch

Connecticut sports legend Jim Calhoun is scheduled to make an appearance in the state at an event that honors local student-athletes. The Record-Journal announced that he will be speaking at the third annual "Best of the Bunch Brunch." 

The brunch takes place each June. This year, new Basketball Hall of Fame member Rebecca Lobo was the speaker and the event doubled in attendance from the inaugural year. 

Calhoun will certainly impart some words of wisdom to the young athletes assembled. Many will receive rewards for their athletic and academic achievements throughout the school year. 

Calhoun ranks 13th in college basketball history with 873 victories. He led the University of Connecticut to three NCAA Championships and seven Big East Tournament titles. 

Calhoun was a four-time Big East Coach of the Year during his tenure at UConn from 1986-2012. 27 of his players went to to play in the NBA. 

Calhoun began his head coaching career at Northeastern. He is a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame and the College Basketball Hall of Fame.
