Orlando Magic Forward Jason Smith Promotes New Bone-In Ribeye at Smokey Bones Appearance

In what is sure to be one of the more zany NBA player appearances of the offseason, Orlando Magic forward Jason Smith was at a Smokey Bones on Thursday to try out a new menu item.  Smokey Bones now has a two pound bone-in ribeye they offer and it was Smith's task to take it down. 

He visisted the Sanford location of the restaurant around dinner time to try it out.  Smith then successfully completed the Ribeye Challenge. 

For downing the steak, Smokey Bones donated $4,000 to the Smith-Mellin Scholarship Fund.  The fund supports students at Smith's alma mater, Platte Valley High School.  

Smith played in 76 games during his first season with the Magic, averaging 7.2 points.  He is set to become a free agent this summer, but Orlando might consider bringing back the was a valuable role player.  

Prior to arriving with the Magic, Smith played one season with the New York Knicks and four with the New Orleans Hornets/Pelicans.  He rounded into a solid NBA contributor while with the Hornets, averaging a career-best 9.9 points in his second  year with the club. 

Smith was orignally selected 20th overall in the 2007 NBA Draft.  He played collegiately at Colorado State, where he was a two-time first-team Mountain West Conference selection.
