Olympic Speed Skating Legend Bonnie Blair Speaks at Women of Influence Symposium

Since training for Olympic glory brought her to town, speed skating legend Bonnie Blair has always been an important part of the Milwaukee community. On Friday, she spoke at the Milwaukee Business Journal's Women of Influence Symposium.

Over 400 people packed The Pfister Hotel to hear from Blair and participate in other events. She kicked off the day, speaking from 8:15-9:15 a.m., with her presentation titled "Soaring to the Gold."

Blair shared lessons she has learned on and off the ice. The event was sponsored by Aurora Health Care and the Girls Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast.

Blair is one of the most decorated Americans in the history of the Winter Olympics. She won six medals, five of them gold, over three Olympics.

Blair originally made her Olympic debut in 1984, but did not medal. She also won nine medals over her career at the World Championships.

In 1994, Blair was named Associated Press Female Athlete of the Year and Sports Illustrated Sportswoman of the Year. She is a member of the United States Olympic Hall of Fame, the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame and the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame.
