NBA Player Glen Davis Makes Appearances in Baton Rouge for his 5th Annual Literacy Tour

On Tuesday, former Louisiana State University standout and current NBA forward Glen “Big Baby” Davis surprised several customers at Raising Cane’s in Baton Rouge. Davis worked the drive through as part of his Louisiana Literacy Tour.

Raising Cane’s presented him with a $15,000 check and all of the area restaurants donated a portion of their Wednesday sales to his foundation.  It was a successful kickoff to the 5th annual “Booking it with Baby” campaign.

Davis is making a series of appearances in the area through Friday to raise money and awareness.  More information on specific events can be found here.

Over the last decade, Davis has been one of the NBA’s most colorful personalities.  He won an NBA title with the Boston Celtics in 2008 and has frequently been a playoff contributor wherever he has landed.

Davis had the best individual run of his career with the Orlando Magic.  In parts of three seasons with the Magic, he averaged 11.6 points and 6.1 rebounds.

It is in his hometown of Baton Rouge and at LSU though where Davis will probably always be most beloved.  In 2006, he was named SEC Player of the Year as a sophomore and led the Tigers to their first Final Four in 20 years.
