Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback Alex Smith Keynotes Steak & Steak Dinner Next Month

Mercy Springfield is holding their 21st annual Steak & Steak Dinner and Charity Auction on April 11th. They are bringing in Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith as keynote speaker. 

The event is being held at the University Plaza Convention Center. It is the largest fundraising event of the year for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield. 

Tickets to attend are $250. Proceeds raised go towards offsetting the costs of the services provided to the over 2,500 registered members who benefit from the Boys & Girls Clubs. 

Since being traded to the Chiefs in 2013, Smith has led the franchise to the playoffs on three occasions. He has been selected to the Pro Bowl in 2013 and 2016. 

The San Francisco 49ers originally selected Smith with the first overall pick of the 2005 NFL Draft. He spent his first eight seasons with the Niners and helped them reach the AFC Championship in 2011. 

Smith played his college football at the University of Utah and helped led the Utes to a Fiesta Bowl win and top five ranking in 2004. That season, be was the Mountain West Conference Offensive Player of the Year and a first-team All-American.
