Kansas Basketball Coach Bill Self Speaks at Wichita Roundball Luncheon

As Kansas basketball coach Bill Self gears up for the season, he is making the rounds talking about his Jayhawks team.  On Monday, he was in Wichita speaking at their Roundball Luncheon. 

The event was held at the Wichita Marriott.  Self discussed some of KU's early-season challenges and the extensive travel they will embark on at the start. 

Jayhawks women's basketball coach Brandon Schneider was also in attendance to speak.  Tickets were $20 and the lunch was put on by the Williams Education Fund. 

Self has been the head coach at Kansas for 13 seasons.  Under his leadership, the program has won 12 straight Big 12 regular season championships. 

The Jayhawks have advanced to the Final Four twice and won the 2008 NCAA Championship.  Self is a four-time Big 12 Coach of the Year and a two-time AP College Coach of the Year. 

Prior to arriving at Kansas, Self had head coaching stints at Illinois, Tulsa and Oral Roberts.  He uniquely began his coaching career as an assistant in Lawrence before joining the staff at his alma mater, Oklahoma State.
