Houston Astros Broadcaster Geoff Blum Speaks at Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce First Pitch Luncheon

Current Houston Astros color commentator Geoff Blum recently had a unique speaking engagement. He was iced-in in Houston on Thursday, but still fulfilled his obligation to speak at the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce First Pitch Luncheon.

Blum appeared via Skype to have a conversation with the master of ceremonies John Morris. He spoke at great length about the Astros won to their first World Series championship in 2017.

There were also presentations previewing the Baylor and McLennan Community College baseball and softball programs. Finally, the Texas Sports Hall of Fame presented their annual award.

Blum had two playing stints with the Astros during his 14-year career. He ironically had the biggest moment of his tenure facing off against Houston with the Chicago White Sox in the 2005 World Series.

In the longest game in Fall Classic history, Blum hit a game-winning home run in the 13th inning of Game 3. Chicago went on to win their first World Series in 86 years.

Blum originally came up to the major leagues with the Montreal Expos in 1999. He also spent time with the San Diego Padres, Tampa Bay Devil Rays and Arizona Diamondbacks.
