Hall of Fame Wide Receiver Tim Brown Speaks to Teams at New Orleans Bowl Luncheon

Bowl season provides unique opportunities for the teams selected to play in the games.  Members of the Arkansas State and Louisiana Tech squads got to hear from a Hall of Famer prior to their showdown in the New Orleans Bowl this weekend.

Legendary wide receiver Tim Brown addressed the assembled crowd at the New Orleans Bowl luncheon on Friday.  He told the players to buy into what their coaches are preaching to them.

Redwolves coach Blake Anderson and Bulldogs coach Skip Holtz also participated in a question and answer segment during the luncheon.  They were joined by the Arkansas State and Louisiana Tech spirit squads and bands who performed at the event.

Brown is still buzzing from his Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinement this summer.  It was a worthy recognition for a player who came to be known as "Mr. Raider" after a standout 17-year career.

Brown spent 16 of those seasons with the Raiders and finished with nearly 15,000 receiving yards and over 100 touchdowns.  He was a nine-time Pro Bowl and two-time All-Pro pick.

While he stood out as a receiver, Brown was also one of the greatest punt returners in league history and finished his career in the top five in punt return yards.  He originally became well known nationally during college at Notre Dame, where he became the first and only true wide receiver to win the Heisman Trophy.
