Hall of Fame Pitcher Goose Gossage Holds Autograph Signing with the Staten Island Yankees

The Staten Island Yankees are bringing in some Hall of Fame help to sell tickets.  Ex-New York Yankees great Goose Gossage is making an appearance for the club's ticket sales drive.

This Saturday, Gossage will be at Richmond County Bank Ballpark to sign autographs.  Any fan that purchases a ticket for a Staten Island home game will receive a voucher to get his signature.

The event is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.  The Yankees first home game comes a week later, June 18th, versus the Brooklyn Cyclones.

Gossage pitched for nine different teams over an impressive 22-year career.  However, he is best remembered for his big moments on the mound with the Yankees.

In the early days of relief pitchers, Gossage helped popularize the closer role.  He led the American League in saves three times and finished runner-up on two other occasions.

Gossage won the AL Rolaids Relief Man Award in 1978, the same year he won his only World Series title with the Yankees.  The nine-time All-Star retired with 310 saves and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2008.
