Former WNBA Star Chamique Holdsclaw Keynotes Harvest of Hope Wellness Conference

The National Alliance on Mental Illness chapter in Mercer County, New Jersey is hosting their Harvest of Hope Wellness Conference in October. They will welcome in former basketball star Chamique Holdsclaw as the keynote speaker.

The event takes place on October 7th at 9:45 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville. Holdsclaw is going to share her own ups and downs with mental illness. 

Reservations are required, but there is no charge for admission. There is a whole weekend of activities planned around Harvest of Hope to recognize Mental Health Awareness Week. 

Holdsclaw first became a star in college at the University of Tennessee. She was part of three straight NCAA Championship teams and the school's first undefeated title winner in 1998. 

Holdsclaw was also a two-time national player of the year for the Vols. The Washington Mystics selected her with the first pick in the 1999 WNBA Draft and she went on to become a six-time All-Star. 

Holdsclaw also won an Olympic gold medal with Team USA in 2000. She retired in 2010 and published her autobiography, Breaking Through: Beating the Odds Shot after Shot, in 2012.
