Former UConn Coach Jim Calhoun Keynotes Hartford Basketball History Event

Not many people can claim to be as influential in Connecticut basketball history as Jim Calhoun. The former men's basketball coach at the University of Connecticut will keynote an event later this month dedicated to celebrating the sport's great tradition in Hartford.

The two-day reunion kicks off on June 28th with a meet and greet at Wampanoag Country Club. Calhoun is speaking at a dinner gala that begins at 6 p.m. at the USS Chowder Pot IV.

Tickets for the gala are $80. Earlier in the day, there will also be a free youth skills camp held at the Keney Woodland Basketball Courts as part of the festivities.

Calhoun guided the Huskies to NCAA Championships in 1999, 2004 and 2011. He won 873 games between his tenures at UConn and Northeastern, which ranks 12th in Division 1 history.

Under Calhoun's watch, the Huskies won seven Big East tournament titles and ten regular season conference championships. He was a four-time Big East Coach of the Year.

After spending 26 years at UConn, Calhoun retired in 2012. He is a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame and the College Basketball Hall of Fame.
