Former Top NBA Draft Pick Dwight E. Davis Keynotes Talbot House Ministries Banquet Next Month

Former NBA player Dwight E. Davis has been through a lot in his life and he now uses that experience to help others. Next month, he will speak at the Talbot House Ministries annual banquet.

The event takes place at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland, Florida on October 26th at 6 p.m. It is free to attend, but a donation is requested.

Davis will talk about how injuries shortened his career and how it led to drug abuse and homelessness. He will also share how he overcame his addictions to become a successful father and businessman.

Davis had a standout career at the University of Houston and was inducted into the school's Hall of Honor in 2006. The Cleveland Cavaliers made him the third overall pick of the 1972 NBA Draft.

Davis spent three seasons with the Cavaliers and was a member of the 1973 All-Rookie Team. He also spent two seasons with the Golden State Warriors until a career-ending injury forced him from the court in 1977.

Davis has been a member of the New Hampshire Workforce Youth Council since 2007. He has received several awards for his work with at-risk teens.
