Former Super Middleweight Champion Andre Ward Holds Meet and Greet Back Home in the Bay Area

Former super middleweight champion Andre Ward is a Bay Area native.  Tommorow, he will be in nearby Hayward, California to hold a meet and greet with some of his hometown fans.

Ward will be making an appearance at Shoe Palace in the Soutland Mall.  From 6-8 p.m., he will sign autographs and pose for pictures at the store.

Ward is a Jordan athlete and Shoe Palace will have a full restock of his gear.  Fans are certainly buzzing after his move to the light heavyweight division.

Just last month, Ward moved to 29-0 in his professional career, but picked up his first victory as a light heayweight.  He won a unanimous decision against Sullivan Barrera fighting right at home at Oracle Arena in Oakland.

With the move up in classes, Ward vacated his WBA super middleweight title.  He orginally won the belt in 2009 and two years later unified the belt with a win over Carl Froch.

Prior to becoming a pro, Ward had one of the best amateur careers of any U.S. boxer ever.  He was undefeated as an amateur from 1998-2004 and won an Olympic gold medal in Athens.
