Former NFL Center Matt Birk Picked to Speak at the 2016 March for Life

Former NFL center Matt Birk has long been an advocate for the pro-life movement.  His significant platform as a former standout pro athlete led the March for Life Education & Defense Fund to reach out to him for an important speaking engagement.

Birk will speak at the 2016 March for Life in Washington D.C.  The march has been a peaceful gathering of those supporting the pro-life movement since 1973.

A noon rally at the Washington Monument precedes the march.  Participants will begin their walk at Constitution Avenue around 1:00 p.m.

Birk famously opted out of a White House visit following the Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl win to protest President Barack Obama’s comments about Planned Parenthood.  He also participates in a variety of other charitable initiatives and plans to donate his brain for concussion research to Boston University’s School of Medicine.

The Harvard graduate was considered one of more thoughtful and intelligent players in the league during his 15-year career.  Birk was a six-time Pro Bowl selection and made two All-Pro squads.

Birk currently serves as the NFL’s Director of Football Development.  In his role, he oversees the development of the game at all levels and assists in the administration of game day operations.
