Former NBA Iron Man A.C. Green Hosts Basketball Camp for 30th Straight Year

Former NBA standout A.C. Green has been teaching kids basketball fundamentals for quite some time.  This past week, he held a leadership and basketball camp for the 30th consecutive year.

The camp was held in Portland, Oregon at Green’s alma mater, Benson High School.  Kids from the ages of 9-16 came to learn from him and an assembled roster of coaches.

His camp is just an extension of the A.C. Green Youth Foundation.  The charity has a leadership program as well as providing abstinence education and mentoring services.

Green was known as the Iron Man of the NBA, playing in a record 1,192 consecutive games.  He won three NBA titles, all with the Los Angeles Lakers.

With the Lakers, Green also made an All-Star team in 1990 and the NBA’s All-Defensive Second Team in 1989.  LA originally selected him in the first round of the 1985 draft out of Oregon State.

While revered in Portland, Green is also known as a legend in Corvallis.  He was the Pac-10 Player of the Year in 1984 and his jersey is retired by the Beavers.
