Former Major League Pitcher Frank Tanana Speaks at Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast

Tomorrow, the Friends in Fellowship of Great Falls is hosting the 24th Annual Mayor's Prayer Breakfast. Former major league pitcher Frank Tanana will speak.

The event is being held at the Heritage Inn in Great Falls, Montana. Doors open at 6:30 a.m. with breakfast taking place from 7:30-8:30 a.m. 

There will be several community leaders who also speak in addition to Tanana. A crowd of over 650 is expected to attend and individual tickets are $18 per person. 

After coming up with the California Angels in 1973, Tanana spent over 20 years in the big leagues and racked up 240 wins. He made three straight All-Star teams while with the Angels from 1976-78. 

Tanana led Major League Baseball in strikeouts in 1975 and had the top ERA in the American League in 1977. On two occasions, he finished in the top five in American League Cy Young voting. 

Tanana pitched for five other major league teams, including an eight-year stint with his hometown Detroit Tigers. He is a member of the Polish-American Sports Hall of Fame and the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame.
