Former College Basketball Coach John Brady Speaks at Trophy Banquet on March 6th

As a McComb, Mississippi native, former college basketball coach John Brady is well-known in the Jackson area. He will speak in the region at the upcoming C Spire Gillom/Howell Trophy presentation. 

The event takes place March 6th at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum. The award is given each year to the most outstanding men's and women's college basketball players in the state. 

Lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. and the festivities will follow. Tickets range in price from $35-$350 and proceeds benefit the museum. 

Brady had a distinguished 25-year career as a Division 1 head basketball coach at Samford, LSU and Arkansas State. He is best known for a decade-long run with the Tigers, where they won two Southeastern Conference regular season titles. 

On each occasion, Brady was named SEC Coach of the Year. The first year, the team advanced to the Sweet 16 and they were a Final Four participant in 2006. 

Brady went on to coach at Arkansas State and win two Atlantic Sun regular season West Division championships. He racked up an overall record at three stops of 402-344.
