Former Boxing Champion Riddick Bowe Keynotes UNCG Event

The University of North Carolina at Greensboro recently hosted a special event with former boxing champion Riddick Bowe. The Fathers and Youth Education & Health Conference took place on June 5th.

Bowe was the keynote speaker at UNCG's Kaplan Center. The event featured several learning and motivational sessions from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In addition to speaking, Bowe also gave away an autographed pair of boxing gloves. The event was free and lunch was also provided for the first 200 who registered.

Bowe first made waves in the boxing world by compiling a 104-18 amateur record and winning four New York Golden Gloves Championships. He won a silver medal in the super heavyweight division at the 1988 Olympics.

In 1992, Bowe defeated Evander Holyfield and became the undisputed world heavyweight champion. He would become world heavyweight champion for the second time by winning the WBO title in 1995.

Bowe is the only heavyweight to ever win titles from the WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO sanctioning bodies. He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2015.
