Ex-WNBA Star Katie Smith Speaks at Ohio State Alumni Club Dinner Next Week

One of the greats in WNBA history is speaking at an event for her alma mater. On March 23rd, Katie Smith is the special guest at the Ohio State University Alumni Club of Ross County's annual dinner meeting.

Smith is a great get for the club as she still does a lot of work with groups in the area. She was the first female athlete ever to have her number retired by the Buckeyes.

The dinner takes place from 6-9 p.m. at Chillicothe Country Club. Individual tickets for the event are $35 and the RSVP deadline to attend is March 20th.

With over 7,000 points scored between the ABL and WNBA, Smith is known as the highest scorer in women's professional basketball history. She played for five different WNBA franchises and was a seven-time All-Star.

Smith led the WNBA in scoring in 2001 and was a two-time league champion with the Detroit Shock. She is a three-time Olympic gold medalist.

Last year, Smith was named to the WNBA's 20@20 team that honored the 20 best players in league history. She is currently the associate head coach of the New York Liberty.
