Detroit Lions Safety Don Carey Holds Several Area Book Signings

Detroit Lions safety Don Carey has been looking for ways to give up ever since making his dreams in professional football a reality. He recently released the book, It's Not Because I'm Better Than You, to give young people a roadmap for achieving their own success.

Carey kicked out his Southeastern Michigan book tour yesterday with an appearance at Frederick Douglass Academy for Young Men. He also held a book signing from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Walmart in Roseville.

Tonight at 6 p.m., Carey will be at the Books-A-Million in Beverly Hills. He wraps his tour with stops at Orangetheory Fitness in Birmingham on Monday and LA Fitness in Detroit on Tuesday.

Carey has steadily become a significant contributor for the Lions since signing with them in 2011. In 2015, he led the NFL with 15 solo tackles on special teams.

Carey spent the first two seasons of his pro career with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was originally selected in the sixth round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns.

Carey is a native of Grand Rapids, Michigan who played college football at Norfolk State. He was a two-time second-team All-MEAC selection for the Spartans.
