Dallas Cowboys Great Daryl Johnston Speaks at United Way Fundraiser

Dallas Cowboys great Daryl Johnston is one of the team's all-time fan favorites. There were certainly plenty Cowboys fans present on Thursday when he spoke at the United Way of Smith County fundraising campaign kickoff.

There were 300 attendees at the event, which was held at The Cascades Golf & Country Club in Tyler. The fundraising goal of reaching 8,500 donors was set for this year.

Johnston talked about football, his broadcasting career and the work the United Way does. He also answered several questions from the audience.

Johnston spent his entire 11-year career as a fullback in Dallas. He won three Super Bowls with the Cowboys and was a Pro Bowler in 1993 and 1994.

Johnston played in 149 straight games from 1989-1997. He scored 22 touchdowns in his career, blocked for the NFL's all-time rushing leader Emmitt Smith and was also one of the greatest special teams players in franchise history.

Johnston has been a broadcaster for The NFL on FOX since 2001. He is currently part of the network's third broadcast team with play-by-play man Kenny Albert
