Colin Kaepernick Returns to Nevada as Keynote Speaker at the 47th Annual Governor's Dinner

There is no question that Colin Kaepernick is one of the most successful athletes in the history of the State of Nevada.  Last Friday, Kaepernick was back in the state he became a college star, delivering the keynote speech at the 47th annual Governor’s Dinner.

The dinner was held at the Governor’s mansion in Carson City and benefited the Wolf Pack Athletics.  Kaepernick mostly spoke from his heart about his career and the strength of Nevada sports.

He also held a brief media session prior to the event.  Kaepernick discussed how excited he was for the upcoming season with the San Francisco 49ers and how he has been preparing during the offseason.

Kaepernick is one of the most exciting young quarterbacks in the NFL today.  He was originally thrust into a starting role midway through the 2012 season and took the 49ers to the Super Bowl.

During that playoff run, he set a league record for QB rushing yards by scrambling for 181 in an opening round win over the Green Bay Packers.  In the two years that followed, Kaepernick has thrown for over 3,000 yards each season and ran for at least 500 yards.

San Francisco selected him in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft after his legendary Nevada career.  Kaepernick holds the distinction of being the only FBS signal caller to throw for 10,000 yards and rush for 4,000 yards in a career.
