Chicago Cubs Second Baseman Ben Zobrist Named Spokesperson for Olivet Nazarene University

Ben Zobrist's offseason signing with the Chicago Cubs has allowed the Eureka, Illinois native to have a return to his roots of sorts.  Zobrist is furthering that reconnection by becoming an official spokesperson for Olivet Nazarene University.

He graduated from Olivet in 2004 and spent the first three seasons of his college baseball career there.  Now, he will be in a series of various communications promoting the school.

Mostly, Zobrist will be promoting the ONU Global Initiative.  In addition, the school is the new official education partner of the Cubs.

Now in his 11th big league season, Zobrist has long been regarded as one of the most versatile players in baseball.  He built a reputation for being a super utility player over his first nine years with the Tampa Bay Rays.

While with the Rays, Zobrist was an American League All-Star in 2009 and 2013.  In 2009, Zobrist hit .297 with 27 home runs and 91 RBI after helping Tampa Bay to the World Series the previous season.

Last year, Zobrist won his first championship after a midseason trade to the Kansas City Royals.  During the 2015 postseason, he hit .303 with two homers and six RBI.
