Cardinals Great Ozzie Smith Named Speaker at the Southeasts Speaker Series

Former St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Ozzie Smith is going to be the closing speaker at the 2015 Southeast Missouri State University’s Speaker Series at 7:30 p.m. on April 20. His particular event will be called “An Evening With Ozzie Smith” and will cost $10 to get in, which is a small price to pay to hear from one of the best baseball players from the 1980s and 90s. He will be telling the audience about himself, his career, and how he managed to have such a fulfilling career in the MLB over a span of about 18 years.

The 15-time All Star player has the nickname “The Wizard”, and he has won the Gold Glove Award thirteen different times and is a World Series champion from 1982. In the beginning, Smith made his professional baseball debut with the San Diego Padres in 1978 and played with the team for three years before switching over to the Cardinals for an addition 15 seasons.
