Brian Griese is Keynote Speaker at the Athens NFF Awards Dinner

Noted ESPN college football analyst and former NFL quarterback Brian Griese is the keynote speaker at the 30th annual Athens National Football Foundation awards dinner.  Griese will take part in the ceremony that honors former Georgia Bulldogs football players, various local high school stars, and local community leaders.

The dinner at the Athens Country Club will have a double helping of Greises as Brian’s father, Bob, will introduce him.  The elder Griese is a noted broadcaster in his own right and former quarterback of the 1972 undefeated Miami Dolphins.

Brian Griese had been with ESPN since 2009.  He works alongside Dave Pasch and Tom Luginbill on a college football game each Saturday in the fall.  Griese had an 11-year playing career after being drafted in the third round in 1998 by the Denver Broncos.

He was a Pro Bowl selection and Super Bowl champion while with the Broncos and holds the single-season passer rating record with Denver and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  Griese also had a distinguished career at the University of Michigan and was MVP of the Rose Bowl during his senior season.

This University of Georgia chapter of the NFF is one of the largest in the country and has had an active role in the local community since 1986.  The group is set to get a great talk from Griese, who at age 12 overcame the loss of his mother to breast cancer.
