Basketball Great Jerry Lucas Keynotes Prayer Breakfast Next Month

Basketball great Jerry Lucas is an Ohio sports legend. Next month, he is making a slew of appearances in Lakeside to share thoughts about faith, memory retention and his time as an NBA standout. 

Lucas will keynote a Prayer Breakfast at Lakeside's Wesley Lodge on July 28th at 7 a.m. He is also speaking about memory retention at 10:30 a.m. in Orchestra Hall. 

There will be a book signing and luncheon with Lucas where he talks about his basketball career as well. The luncheon and book signing are sold out, but tickets for the Prayer Breakfast are still available. 

After becoming a national high school champion, Lucas was a two-time NCAA Player of the Year at Ohio State. He led the Buckeyes to three straight NCAA finals and was a three-time Big Ten Player of the Year. 

Lucas was selected by the Cincinnati Royals and went on to score over 14,000 points and 12,000 rebounds. He was the 1964 NBA Rookie of the Year and went on to be a seven-time All-Star. 

Lucas was also an All-NBA first-team pick three times. He won an NBA championship with the New York Knicks in 1973 and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1980.
